Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro
Xbox One X scores a big victory against the PS4 Pro in its opening week on sale.
Microsoft’s Xbox One X reportedly sold 80,000 units during its first week on sale in the UK.
More than half of sales were for the Xbox One X Scorpio Edition, which was limited
That’s roughly the same amount as the Nintendo Switch in March, and 30,000 more than the PS4 Pro during the same period.
In fact, according to GamesIndustry.biz, it would take the PS4 Pro four weeks to reach 80,000 sales in the UK.
The report does point out that stock shortages could have contributed to the PS4 Pro and Nintendo Switch sales.
The biggest selling Xbox One X games were Call of Duty WW2, Assassin’s Creed Origins, FIFA 18, Forza 7 and Forza Horizon 3.
Microsoft’s swish new console launches with a £449 price tag in the UK.
The CPU is said to be 30% faster than that of the original Xbox One, while the GPU is 4.6 times more powerful than its predecessor.
The end result are games that run smoother, load faster and look better than ever before.
Microsoft does, however, have a surprise recommendation for Xbox One X owners.
Even though the Xbox One X has a 1TB hard drive, fans are running out of storage space quickly when downloading Xbox One X Enhanced 4K updates.
Xbox marketing boss Albert Penello told Game Informer that fans should consider an external hard drive to help with storage.
“The last thing is that I do encourage the external hard drive as something we’ve supported from the get-go,” he continued.
“We’ve found that even when we had internal hard drive swap ability like on Xbox 360, that people don’t really like to crack open their consoles. Having external hard drive support – and those are very affordable these days; there was just this 4 TB on sale for, like, $110 I think – is a great way to get a ton of storage.”
