TV deal will tip transfer deals over the £1billion bar

Dan Jones, head of Deloitte’s sports business group, said on Friday: “With a third round of games in the Premier League this weekend and a number of clubs keen to strengthen with a view to competing in European and domestic cup competitions, total spending in this window will likely break the £1billion barrier for the first time.”

Manchester City have spent the most so far, having acquired nine new players for £180.9million, including £47.5million alone on acquiring novice defender John Stones from Everton. In second place are Manchester United, which spent £157.3million on defender Eric Bailly and midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.
