Ryan Sessegnon is said to be Liverpool’s top transfer target this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen at left-back.

London lad Sessegnon is one of the country’s most highly-rated young players.

He turns 17 today, meaning he can sign a pro contract with the Cottagers. And a source close to the situation says Sessegnon will pen a contract with Fulham – not the Reds.

The insider said: “He is a Liverpool fan but loves it at Fulham, where he can play regular football. That’s where he wants to be – for now.”

Swansea’s saviour Gylfi Sigurdsson has been eyed by Everton and West Ham – but he says he expects to stay in Wales.

He said: “I expect to stay. I signed a new contract last summer and I’ve got three years left, so it’s down to the club if they want to sell me. It’s down to them, but I’m very happy here.

“I’m not trying to leave, not desperate to go or anything. It’s not like I want to go, it’s just very calm and I’m not focused or concentrating on what people are writing.

“I’ve always been happy here and you only have to look at the coaching staff who came in to see there are good things happening here. They’re top notch and Paul knows what he’s doing.”

Alexis Sanchez has been locked in contract talks with Arsenal for months but has so far failed to agree new terms.

“I cannot tell you now [about my future], we have to wait until the end of the season,” Sanchez said last night.

Alexis Sanchez is out of contract at the end of next season – and Dietmar Hamann has today called for him to move to a “top side”.

He told Paddy Power: “Alexis Sanchez has done well this season, but I’d like to see him at a top, top side now.

“When his contract talks broke down, I didn’t like how his attitude changed.

“I’ve not seen him in a Champions League final because Arsenal get knocked out every time they play the last 16. Should he have done more in the Bayern hammering? I’d say so.

“Mesut Ozil always gets it in the neck and people say ‘well Sanchez tried’, but if you compare him to what am Eden Hazard does the jury’s out still on him for me.

“He’s a good player, but is Sanchez world class? I’m not too sure.”

Chelsea have opened talks over a new contract with Thibaut Courtois.

He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, who are searching for a new keeper this summer.

But Courtois, who is under contract until June 2019, wants to remain at Stamford Bridge.

It means Real are even more likely to target David De Gea this summer.

Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva has been linked with Manchester United for weeks.

He won Ligue 1 with his side yesterday – but his post-match interview suggested he could now leave.

The 22-year-old told SIC: “I am finishing my third season in Monaco, who gave me the opportunity to play at a higher level.

“But of course, every player dreams of playing for the best teams and in the best divisions one day. I’m no exception.”

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be furious with Real Madrid over their bid to offload James Rodriguez this summer.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Mourinho is not happy over Real’s attempts to use him in a deal to bring David De Gea to the Bernabeu.

It is said the United manager told president Florentino Perez: “Do you take us for fools?”

United are supposedly determined to sign Rodriguez but do not want him included in any deal for their current No1.

Transfer expert Guillem Balague tweeted yesterday: “On James. @CaracolRadio say his transfer to MUFC will be announced soon. His agents that MUFC are “favourites” to get him. But United, who have been offered the player, do not consider him a priority and have other targets for the same role James would fill.”
