THE LAST of Us 2 skipped E3 2017 this year, with more expected to be revealed in the coming months and fans think they may know where the PS4 exclusive is heading next.

The Last of Us 2: PS4 exclusive heading west? Reddit fans have a theory

The Last of Us 2 (Last of Us Part II) is set to be a big launch for Sony’s PS4, although it’s still very much in early development.

It’s unclear just when the full release will set for but whenever it is, it will be big.

As you might expect, with the lack of announcements at E3, fans are hungry for more information on the new titles, including what characters it will includes and what locations it will explore.

The first title was pretty sprawling, taking place in many different locations, first in the East of the United States, before heading to the states of Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.

And now fans on Reddit believe they may have worked where at least one of the new locations will be in The Last of Us 2.

Reddit user Voldsby has put together images of real-life locations in the city of Seattle, with some of the first images released from the new Naughty Dog project.

These are actually from some of the first concept art released in 2016, with further corroborations made with other details, such as the bus signs and parking meters visible in the shots.

“ I received a quite interesting PM from fellow redditor, u/roganjosho, who shared another incredible piece of information regarding this official Part II concept art, that makes it even more convincing that Part II will indeed take place in Seattle, Washington,” a recent update on Reddit explains.

“The Redditor discovered that the parking building in the background is in fact a real parking garage, located on 1st Ave. in Seattle, Washington.

“Naturally, I went straight to Google Maps to see for myself, and sure enough, there it was.”

The full post can be found here, explaining the details of the theory, as well as providing the comparison shots of what could be Seattle, Washington, locations.

Naughty Dog revealed during E3 that only a small team were working on The Last of Us 2 during the development of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Nearly the full development group from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End started working on the new project, weeks after the original title was wrapped up.

That would suggest maybe as early as April 2016, Naughty Dog started exploring new story possibilities, which meant deciding what characters would become the main focus.

Chloe Sullivan and Sam were named as potential candidates and it took around 10 weeks to get the initial story outline sorted for the new standalone title. Multiple Sullivan stories were explored by the team, however, it was decided that they wouldn’t work for a game.

When everything was put into place, production began on the game that included nearly all the team from Uncharted 4.

Most of the studio were working on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy during its development, meaning only a small group were dedicated to The Last of Us 2 until the other’s completion.

A lot of this is down to the size of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which Naughty Dog told the Express Online is a substantial standalone title that grew from a small prototype project.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will launch on August 22, 2017 in North America for $39.99 USD, $49.99 CAD. The Lost Legacy will arrive on August 23 in Europe.

And with their latest project wrapped up, it means we could learn more about The Last of Us 2 at the PlayStation Experience in December.
