The Game Awards 2017 is going to feature the Fornite new game mode, among other reveals.

The annual event is being hosted by Geoff Keighley and will have a couple of new announcements thrown in with the usual celebrations.

Several developers and publishers will be showing off their latest projects, including Epic Games.

In the UK, The Game Awards 2017 are scheduled to kick off on Friday, December 8 at around 1:30am.

Fans will be able to watch is on the usual platforms, with Twitch likely to be one of the most popular.

New games are expected to be revealed, while the likes of Fortnite, PUBG and a few others are likely to take centrestage.

Epic Games have confirmed that the Fornite new mode will be one of the reveals shown off at The Game Awards 2017.

While there’s no set time for when it will pop up, Epic have confirmed that this new content will be arriving sometime this month.

“We are introducing Limited time modes in December,” Epic confirms.

“Limited time modes are temporary experiences with special conditions that provide new ways to play and allow us to run fun experiments.

“We’ll announce what our first limited time mode is soon… it’s going to be EPIC.”

This could mean anything from new rules being in place for the current Battle Royale map, to changing how the base mechanics works.

The experimentation line is also interesting as these new limited modes could lead to much bigger things.

PUBG Battlegrounds is getting a brand new map, and developer Bluehole will be showing it off tonight.

The new Battlegrounds map has already been detailed by Bluehole, as the developer reveals new screenshots and gameplay details.

Known as Miramar, Bluehole claims that the harsh new map will require fresh strategies.

In terms of a release date, Bluehole says that it will be playable during the final test round before the full PC release. This means it won’t be ready for the Xbox One launch on December 12.

“We are excited beyond words that we can finally share the name of our new desert map and tell you a little bit about some of the places you can visit,” reads a Bluehole blog post.

“When we decided to create a new map, we focused on creating an environment that is very different from Erangel. We wanted to go the opposite direction of having lush fields and forests and arrived at the harsh and unforgiving desert of what we can now reveal is Miramar.

“The unique terrain and dense urban areas of Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required.”

New gameplay from this map will be shown during the Game Awards tonight.

There are also very loose rumours that the Nintendo Switch could have a big reveal tonight.

It hasn’t been confirmed what it could be, although there are plenty of candidate to fill the role.

Some fans are hoping that a new Pokemon game trailer could be shown off tonight, although Nintendo have not said anything about any big plans for TGA.

Others are hoping something could be being worked on for Metroid Prime 4, recently announced at E3.

Currently, the Metroid Prime 4 release date is simply listed as TBA, meaning fans could be waiting a while for some big news.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime previously told Polygon about why Metroid Prime 4 was revealed so early on.

He said: “We wanted to make it clear that Metroid is an important franchise for us.

“As we think about how to satisfy the needs to the Metroid fans, we needed to make sure they understood there was a great console experience coming, in addition to Metroid: Samus Returns coming on Nintendo 3DS.

“That’s what we wanted to make sure it was clear that it wasn’t one or the other, that we were going to support both of our platforms with a great new Metroid experience.”

The last title in the Metroid Prime series was Metroid Prime 3 on the Nintendo Wii, released back in 2007.

The Metroid Prime trilogy on Nintendo Gamecube and Wii was developed by Retro Studios.

However, they are NOT returning for Metroid Prime 4 – but longtime producer Kensuke Tanabe is.
