The insider said: ‘Brendan is clearly very bitter about missing out on the role and hasn’t held back on taking out his anger on Shirley.

‘He goes out of his way to ignore her backstage during show breaks and makes her feel very uncomfortable.

‘Brendan notoriously falls out with fellow dancers, but this row is on a whole other level. Everyone thinks it’s very childish.’

Brendan also allegedly hurled abuse at Shirley during Saturday’s live show, after she gave contestant Mollie King a score of six for her paso doble.

The pro has not held back on his views towards the judging this series, telling the publication on Saturday that the scoring system needs to change to avoid unfair bias.

He said: ‘It wouldn’t hurt if there was a handicap system, like in golf.

‘It would be good for people who don’t come from a stage school or performance background like Debbie, who has a ballet dance history.’

Fans have similarly criticised the panel this year for inconsistent scoring, after some contestants harsh feedback did not match their resulting scores.

There has also been outrage after favourite Aston Merrygold was eliminated in Week Seven, despite originally being one of the favourites to win, in what was dubbed the most shocking elimination in Strictly history.

Representatives for Shirley, Brendan and Strictly have been contacted for comment.
