Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Review: Phablet perfection comes at a very high price

Specs

The Note 7 is a flagship smartphone with specs worthy of that title.

Powered by an octa-core 2.3GHz chipset and 4GB of RAM, the Galaxy Note 7 handles everything you throw at it. And then some.

The 5.7inch Note 7 is designed to be more productive than your average smartphone, with the ability to multi-task between Android apps, annotate with the S Pen, all while watching YouTube in a floating picture-in-picture window.

Fortunately, the monstrous Galaxy Note 7 manages all of this with ease.

The £739 smartphone doesn’t even break into a sweat when you load up graphics-heavy smartphone games or Ultra HD 4K video.

However, it’s not all good news in the power department.

When placed against the iPhone 6s in simple speed test the Note 7 failed to impress, with the year-old phone from Apple easily beating it.

It’s not a deal-breaker but it is slightly embarrassing for Samsung.

Security

One of the biggest new features on the Note 7 is its retina scanner.

This futuristic tech lets you unlock the phablet with the power of your eyes and aims to do away with old-fashioned passwords and fingerprint recognition.

Setup is simple and within a minute your eyes have been scanned and are ready to unlock the display.
