Footage shows the front steps being pulled up, the top half folding downwards flush against the lower half before the sides swivel together to create a long box.

The ceiling is then brought down and sits on top of this and folds around the side.

Mounted on a lorry, the building can then easily be transported elsewhere.

The wooden walls are 15cm thick and reinforced with steel plates. The building is equipped with an autonomous diesel generator and is fitted with hook-ups for electricity, plumbing and water.

However, the nifty abode does not come cheap with prices ranging between €350,000 and €450,000 (£280,000 to £360,000), The Mirror reports.

Online viewers have shared their thoughts on the folding houses with some excited about such a building, which could make travelling easier, and others baffled about how such a house could really function.

‘Awesome way to travel,’ one commentator enthused. ‘Stunning concept,’ a second agreed.

But others were sceptical, despite Semenov stating on YouTube that furniture will be stored in the centre of the folded building.

‘Cool. Until you realize you need to move all your furniture somewhere before house folds down,’ one person wrote. ‘With that many moving seams, wouldn’t it leak soon?’ another questioned. ‘But where is the bathroom, kitchen, and misc furniture stored?’ a third asked.

One online commentator joked: ‘My biggest fear is it would spontaneously compact while I was in the shower.’
