Roger Federer loves playing in London

Federer, 36, is a huge favourite with fans in London and he has fond memories of the place.

He has won eight Wimbledon titles in the English capital and two ATP World Tour finals at the O2.

While Wimbledon attracts the tennis traditionalists, the atmosphere at the turbo-charged O2 is far livelier.

Federer, however, is a fan of both for different reasons

Roger Federer says the O2 is far different to Wimbledon

Federer said: “I love playing in London with Wimbledon and this.

“I love the fans here, I really do. They know their stuff here, they love tennis.

“Wimbledon to the World Finals is like night and day but it’s great to be in a tennis hotspot.

“It’s very important for the men’s game that we are actually not somewhere where tennis is irrelevant.”

Despite spending plenty of time in London, one thing he has missed is being a tourist.

He added: ”It’s funny as I don’t know the city well, there’s never sightseeing.

“It’s always so busy and compressed when I’m here but it’s a place I know I’ll return to for business and leisure.”
