Real Madrid have been rocked by Neymar ahead of their Liverpool Champions League clash

Real Madrid and Liverpool face off in Kiev tonight with the Champions League trophy at stake.

The La Liga giants are expected to strengthen their squad this summer with Reds talisman Mohamed Salah being linked.

However, Florentino Perez’s top target is PSG forward Neymar, who could leave the Parc des Princes this summer.

Yet Spanish outlet Diario Gol say comments made from the player have stunned Real Madrid ahead of their Liverpool showdown.

Neymar could leave PSG for two big reasons.

The first of those is that he is supposedly underwhelmed by the standard of football in France.

And the second is because he feels that, while he is at PSG, it may be tough to win the Ballon d’Or.

Real have appeared frontrunners for his signature, with Perez close to the player’s father.

But Diario Gol say comments made by Neymar have left Perez fearing the player could join Manchester City.

Speaking earlier this week the Brazilian gushed over Pep Guardiola by saying: “I always wanted to work with Guardiola.

“I arrived a year after he left Barcelona. I really want to work with him.”

Real reportedly feel that, though Neymar’s comments do not suggest at a move to City, they are also in contact with his father.

City have been loosely linked in the past with Manchester United also in the running for his signature.

Real, however, still appear his likeliest destination if his PSG career is cut short.

Perez, though, may have to change his stance if he is to finally succeed in bringing Neymar to the Bernabeu.
