Queen biopic cast CONFIRMED: EastEnders star joins line-up of actors playing iconic band

The Queen biopic is out next year

It’s been revealed that Gwilym Lee, Joe Mazzello and former EastEnders favourite Ben Hardy have landed the roles, following rumours back in June.

It’s another big movie job for Hardy, who formerly played Peter Beale on the BBC soap.

He’s thought to be playing Roger Taylor in the film, while Brian May will be played by Lee.

Mazzello, finally, is tapped to portray John Deacon.

Production on the film is set to begin this autumn, according to Variety, with Bryan Singer directing from Justin Haythe’s script.

The movie courted controversy last month when it was claimed that Mercury’s fight against AIDS will be completely omitted.

Reports circulated claiming that the drama will focus on the band’s career rather than Mercury’s personal life; drawing some criticism.

On the group’s blog, they said Bohemian Rhapsody will “recreate the fabulous Queen years which brought us such unforgettable moments as Live Aid”.

Queen, who have recently been performing with Adam Lambert, have been estimated to have sold between 150 and 300 million records.

Before Mercury’s death they released fourteen studio albums, of which six were UK No1s.

Bohemian Rhapsody is out in 2018.
