Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro
Sony is giving the PS4 Pro a huge price cut to combat the Xbox One X.
With Microsoft’s impressive Xbox One X selling well in its opening weeks, Sony is cutting the price of the PS4 Pro.
From December 10 until December 24, Sony is slashing the price of the PS4 Pro by $50 and PlayStation VR by $100.
Discounts are available on the Destiny 2 PS4 Pro bundle, the Star Wars Battlefront 2 bundle and the regular PS4 Pro.
PlayStation VR discounts can be had on Skyrim bundles, Doom VFR and Gran Turismo Sport.
Currently only announced for the US, Express Online has contacted Sony to find out if the discounts will be available worldwide.
And it’s not just the Xbox One X that’s on Sony’s radar. Sony executive Kazuhiko Takeda recently said that the Nintendo Switch can’t be ignored.
“At our gaming business, sales of the PlayStation 4 are strong heading into the holidays,” he said (via Gamingbolt).
“But we can’t ignore the Nintendo Switch, which has also captured consumers’ attention.
“Our business model involves selling both the game console and the software for it, so we’re working to get more customers paying continuously for content, for example through paid subscription services.”
Does this mean Sony will release a new handheld device?
It’s been a good week for Nintendo Switch fans, who have been treated to some fantastic games news.
Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi recently said that he wants to work on consoles again, before praising the Nintendo Switch.
Capcom, meanwhile, announced plans to release Mega Man 11 on Nintendo Switch next year.
Likewise, Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 are being released on Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018.
Then there’s Bridge Constructor Portal, which will be released on Nintendo Switch early next year.
