According to local reports, there were two people on board the helicopter when it crashed, however it is not known if there are any injuries or fatalities.

It came after a white nationalist rally rocked Charlottesville and a car drove into a crowd of anti-fascist counter protesters.

There is speculation the helicopter was monitoring the situation in the city at the time of the crash.
