Pokemon Go Legendary Week
Pokemon Go developer Niantic has dropped a Legendary bombshell ahead of the second Community Day.
Pokemon Go Community Day 2 will run for 3 hours on Saturday, February 24.
The second Community event starts at 10am UK time and runs until 1pm GMT.
The limited time event will focus on Dratini, and its Dragonair and Dragonite evolutions.
In fact, anybody who manages to evolve a Dragonair into Dragonite this weekend will learn a new special move.
“Great news, Trainers! If you’re lucky enough to evolve your Dragonair into Dragonite during this month’s #PokemonGOCommunityDay, your Dragonite will know a special move – Draco Meteor!” reads a Niantic tweet.
Players will also earn three times the amount of Stardust for the duration of the event, while Lures will last for all 3 hours.
If the first Community event is anything to go by, Dratini could also get a Shiny variant.
But Niantic has also announced Legendary Week, which starts today and runs until March 5. You can find out more details in the gallery below…
As part of Legendary Week, Niantic will bring back Groudon and Kyogre as Raid bosses. That’s on top of current Legendary Raid boss Rayquaza.
“Niantic and The Pokemon Company have announced that Pokemon GO Legendary Week will begin today and run through March 5, bringing Groudon and Kyogre back to Raid Battles alongside Rayquaza in Raid Battles around the world,” reads a Niantic post.
“Pokemon GO Legendary Week also includes a global challenge where if Trainers defeat Rayquaza more than both Kyogre and Groudon, they’ll receive special rewards.”
If Rayquaza is defeated more than his Legendary counterparts, then Wind-type Pokemon will be more likely to hatch from eggs between March 5 and March 16.
“If not, Pokemon that prefer sunny or rainy weather (like Trapinch or Lotad) are more likely to hatch,” Niantic adds.
Fortunately, the Legendary Pocket Monster Rayquaza is relatively easy to defeat.
Rayquaza has a low defence and is weak against Pokemon with ice moves.
Pokemon Go trainers can use Jynx to do some serious damage against Rayquaza. Hardcore Pokemon Go fans might also want to consider the likes of Lapras, Walrein and Articuno, which all have double ice movesets.
As an added bonus, Niantic has released a new set of Special boxes in time for Legendary Week.
The new special boxes will contain Raid Passes to help fans prepare for the action.
