Nintendo Switch system update 5.0 is LIVE

Nintendo Switch users can now download system update 5.0.

The brand new Nintendo Switch firmware update makes a number of changes to the console, although Virtual Console support is still missing.

According to the official patch notes, the new system update introduces Facebook and Twitter support.

With the update enabled, Facebook and Twitter friends can be added to your list through Friend Suggestions.

To celebrate the release of Kirby Star Allies and the recent Arms update, the new patch also introduces 24 new series icons.

Needless to say, the update also improves general performances and fixes a few bugs.

Improvements Included in Version 5.0.0 (Distributed 03/12/2018)

Added the following system functionality

– Friend suggestions are based on the Facebook and Twitter accounts you have linked to your Nintendo Account

– To view your friend suggestions, from the top left of the HOME Menu head to your User Page > Friend Suggestions

– You must be 13 or older to use this feature

– To edit your user icon, head to your My Page on the top left of the Home Menu > Profile

– When prompted to enter you Parental Controls PIN, press and hold the + Button to change between input methods

– Play-Time Limit restrictions will still apply even when the software title has been whitelisted.
