The Nintendo Switch games list expanded again this week, with a total of seven new titles making their debuts.

A mix of new and retro titles made their debuts, with ACA Aero Fighters launching alongside Retro City Rampage DX. Available from the Nintendo Switch eShop, Retro City launched on August 3 and costs around £12.99.

“Retro City Rampage reimagines the open world crime genre like it’s 1989. Jump on civilians for coins — then steal their car and outrun the law!

“Explore the city and complete missions, or just go on a rampage with your weapons, power-ups and vehicles! This pop culture send-up includes a full Story Mode of open world adventure, plus Arcade Challenges for quick pick-up-and-play action.

“If that’s not enough, it also packs an interactive city full of shops, minigames, customizations, collectibles, special guest stars, and more.”

This actually makes it one of the most expensive games to arrive this week, with six others also confirmed. These include: Slime-san, GUNBARICH9o, STRIKERS1945, ACA Aero Fighters, Puzzle Adventure Blockle and Use Your Words.

“Grab a few friends and get ready to laugh. Use Your Words is the party game for funny people and their unfunny friends! Use Your Words is a game that invites players to respond to a variety of mini-games and prompts with the funniest answers they can think of.

“Players play using their phones and tablets as controllers, making game-play seamless and quick to pick up.

“Players who get stumped can use one of the hidden “House Answers” to lay a trap for their fellow players once it’s time for everyone to vote for their favourite.”

The Nintendo Switch will continue to have “great sales”, according to Strauss Zelnick – the CEO of GTA 5 publisher Take-Two Interactive Software.

Zelnick said the gaming giant, who own Grand Theft Auto developers Rockstar Games, are very supportive of the Nintendo Switch during a conference call.

The Take-Two boss said the GTA 5 publisher was excited about the Switch and supportive of it six months ago – and they still are.

According to reports he said the Nintendo Switch sales are “great” and he expects them to “continue to be great”.

Zelnick also commented that Take Two were optimistic about the Switch’s future – but did not give any indication whether GTA 5 will be coming to Nintendo’s hit console.

He also didn’t discuss the possibility of whether Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar’s next big game, will be released on the Nintendo Switch.

While the likelihood of a RDR2 launch for the Swtich are pretty much non-existent due to the hardware restraints, GTA 5 would be another matter.

The game continues to surge in support and has already achieved huge numbers this year.

And it would make sense that Rockstar would want to get involved with the Switch, as long as one big question can be resolved.

GTA 5 Online is a huge piece of the Grand Theft Auto pie for Take-Two and would likely be a dealbreaker if it couldn’t be launched alongside the rest of the game.

There’s also the fact that Rockstar will be looking to fully support Red Dead Redemption 2 when it launches next year, meaning there could be little room for such a Switch project.

Take Two have a number of confirmed releases for the Nintendo Switch coming up – WWE2K18 and NBA2K18.

Super Mario Odyssey will have a new rival for biggest game on the Nintendo Switch.

Splatoon 2 is selling well and will likely be one of the biggest launches for the new console until the latest Super Mario adventure makes its debut in October.

For an example of the sequel’s selling power, Splatoon 2 went straight to No.1 in the Japanese weekly charts last week.

And according to the latest figures from Famitsu, this caused an 178 per cent spike in Nintendo Switch sales.

In total, 671,000 copies were sold last week, making it one of the best-selling Switch games to date.

This even outranks Super Mario Kart 8, which was riding high with 534,000 units.

It’s not hugely surprising that Splatoon 2 has done so well, it was expected that the family-friendly shooter would make some waves.

Nintendo have planned out their launch strategy cautiously, making sure that there are some big launches every few months, to avoid any repeats of the Wii U.
