Out of five seasons of Married at First Sight, only three couple are still married, but that hasn’t stopped six more people from signing up to say ‘I do’ to complete strangers.
The Lifetime reality series is returning in January, and for its sixth season the show’s relationship experts have headed to Boston to pair six strangers who will meet their spouses for the first time when they exchange vows at the altar.
Similar to past seasons, the show will chronicle the ups and downs of marrying and moving in with a stranger as the participants work to get to know each other — and hopefully fall in love — before they have to decide if they want get divorced.

Looking for love: Molly Duff and Jonathan Francetic are one of two couples who are saying ‘I do’ as total strangers on the sixth season of Married at First Sight
No laughing matter: Molly, 25, and Jonathan, 28, both wanted to be paired with people who have a sense of humor
Dr. Pepper Schwartz, a sociologist and sexologist who has been helping counsel the show’s newlyweds for the past five seasons, is returning along with marriage coach Pastor Calvin Roberson, who appeared on the show’s fourth and fifth seasons.
The two Married at First Sight veterans will join newcomer Dr. Jessica Griffin, a clinical and forensic psychologist with expertise in trauma, relationships, and high conflict divorce.
Over the past five season of the reality series, 15 couples have gotten married, but only three of them have remained together.
Season two star Jessica Castro’s pairing with Ryan De Nino was so disastrous she ended up filing for a restraining order after claiming he had threatened her life and that of her family.
However, there have been enough happy endings to give this season’s participants some hope. Season one stars Jamie Otis and Doug Doug Hehner are not only still married, they also welcomed their first child in August.
Their co-stars Cortney Hendrix and Jason Carrion are married as well, and Anthony D’Amico and his wife Ashley are also still going strong after saying ‘I do’ on the show last season.
Unlike previous seasons, Married at First sight has revealed this year’s pairings ahead of the show’s premiere, and the participants include an army veteran, a firefighter, and cosmetologist who are all looking for lasting love.

At the age of 25, Molly is the youngest participant this season, and she is looking for ‘the one’ after being in several long-term relationships over the past few years.
Taking a break from dating helped Molly realize exactly what she is looking for in a man, and she hopes to be paired with a partner who is funny, hard-working, and loyal.
The commercial insurance adjuster, who lives in the suburbs of Boston, grew up with a loving family and parents who remained devoted to each other until her father’s death six years ago.
Her father’s passing made her even closer to her mother and two sisters, and she is ready for the experts to find her the man of her dreams, so she can embark on the next chapter of her life.
Jonathan, a 28-year-old army veteran and financial associate, is living in the suburbs of Boston after growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, with his parents.
Unlike Molly, his parents divorced when he was a teenager, and he credits his mother with teaching him the importance of being a spouse who compromises and shows his partner unconditional love.
Although his friends seem him as a practical soldier, Jonathan has romantic side that he wants to share with his future partner.
As part of the experiment, he has put his trust in the experts, and he hopes to be matched with a woman who is energetic, driven, and has a sense of humor.
Something in common: Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre both come from big families. She is the eldest of ten children, while he is the oldest of 14 brothers and sisters
Deal-breaker: Shawniece, 29, and Jephte, 26, are both turned off by laziness
Looking for the one: The cosmetologist’s dating life has proved unsuccessful due to men being unwilling to settle down, and she believes the experts will be able to find her true love
Searching for a soulmate: Shawniece wants a man who can keep up with her, make her laugh, and keep her grounded during stressful times
Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre
Shawniece, 29, is a cosmetologist and entrepreneur living in Providence, Rhode Island, about an hour drive from Boston.
While her parents never married, her mother’s marriage to her stepfather has taught her what a healthy relationship looks like. As the eldest of ten brothers and sisters, Shawniece loves having a big family to spend time with.
The experts typically advise the participants to keep an open mind when it comes to their new spouses, but Shawniece has made it clear that she has one deal-breaker: laziness.
As someone who values hard work and determination, she wants the experts to pair her with a man who can keep up with her, make her laugh, and keep her grounded during stressful times.
Shawniece’s dating life has proved unsuccessful due to men being unwilling to settle down, and she believes the experts will be able to help her find true love.
Jephte is a 26-year-old second grade teacher who lives in Boston. Like Shawniece, he comes from a large family and is the eldest of fourteen children.
As a natural leader, he took on the role of a father-figure for his younger siblings while they were growing up. Although his parents are still married, Jephte doesn’t view their marriage as one to aspire to, and he looks to others for relationship advice.
Jephte also finds laziness to be a turn off, and after struggling with dating, he hopes to be paired with a woman who is outgoing, mature, and confident.

Jaclyn Schwartzberg and Ryan Buckley
Jacyln is a 29-year-old teacher turned sales representative who grew up in the suburbs of Boston with her two siblings and parents whose relationship she describes as ‘perfect.’
Two years ago, Jaclyn suffered the devastating and sudden loss of her boyfriend — the man she believed to be her soulmate.
Jacyln admits that none of the men she has dated have compared, and she joined the show in the hope of finding another person she can connect with on the same level.
Like most people who have appeared on the series, Jaclyn believes the experts will be able to find her someone who will be her perfect match.
Meanwhile, Ryan, 29, is a Boston firefighter who also grew up in a happy household with three sisters and parents who are still very much in love.
Looking back on his childhood, Ryan describes it as the quintessential American dream, and like Jaclyn, he greatly admires his parents’ marriage.
Ryan loves working as a firefighter and cooking for his friends a the station, but he wishes he had a partner to share his life with.
Although he admits to being picky, he also has faith that the experts will find in the perfect match — someone who is both energetic and thoughtful.
