WAR RELIC? No these round object on Mars is more likely the result of concretion.
Alien conspiracy theorists have zoomed in on a bluish-looking spherical object, which appears to look out of place among the rest of the reddish rocks, with one claiming it is “100 percent evidence there was a major war on Mars.
The image was taken by NASA’s Curiosity Rover droid, which is currently exploring the surface of Mars and beamimg back close-up images, which the US space agency releases for public viewing.
At the forefront of this pseudo-research is Scott C Waring, editor of website Ufosightingsdaily.com.
He has previously claimed to have found a decapitated soldier complete with crown, that he hailed the “slain King of Mars,” amid claims he had been defeated in battle.
In a recent post he claimed NASA had tried to make it difficult for people to now access this image online, but he was still able to locate it.
This metal ball is perfectly formed and about the size of a softball here on Earth. Guess what? That also matches the size of a cannon ball.
Various conspiracy theories have abounded for years that there was once an ancient civilisation on Mars that was wiped out by some alleged intergalactic nuclear war, which destroyed the Martian atmosphere, making it uninhabitable.
The new “cannonball” has only fueled the theory.
Mr Waring blogged that the cannonball must have been one of thousands fired at the planet to destroy its atmosphere.
He said: “This metal ball is perfectly formed and about the size of a softball here on Earth.
“Guess what? That also matches the size of a cannon ball.”
The ball was first highlighted by YouTube channel WhatsUpInTheSky37 which made it more grey to show it against the red rocks.
Mr Waring added: “This projectile is sitting on the surface above all the wrecked stone structures around it.
“Fragments of a once civilisation is sitting scattered in tiny pieces around this cannon ball.
“I do believe these balls and millions of others were deliberately shot at Mars from space all at once to destroy their atmosphere, burn it away.
“What I mean is a large enough man made meteor shower could strip Mars of its atmosphere and thus, destroy all or most life on the planet surface.”
His far-fetched theories appear to stem more from a vivid imagination, than anything beyond the apparent shape in the picture.
In fact, the spherical objects are a natural phenomenon so common on Mars that NASA has already given them a nick name – “blueberries.”
It says they are the result of a natural phenomenon that also happens on Earth.
Concretion is when minerals gather and harden inside a water-soaked rock.
This creates the bubble-like shapes, and they are more resistant to erosion than the surrounding rock, so when that material erodes away, the odd colored spheres are left behind.
British alien investigator Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, was having none of Mr Waring’s theory.
He said: “It looks strikingly artificial but even on Earth large spherical rock formations have been created by natural forces.
“As an example, on Koekohe Beach, New Zealand, you can find the Moeraki Boulders. They were formed from a small central core that accumulated materials over time, so this Martian sphere could be something formed in its ancient past.
“Or in other words, without being able to investigate it properly its a load of balls to think it is artificial or the result of alien activity.”
