The elderly man, who was known to the woman, was taken into custody.

Overnight, the suburban street was cordoned off as forensic officers searched the property.

A neighbor told 7 News he was unnerved after learning of the death.

‘I had seen about six to eight cop cars, there were cops everywhere.

‘It’s a bit unnerving as we’ve only moved into the area about four or five months ago.’

Investigations continue.
