Last 22 BHS finally close their doors today for the last time

The stores were originally due to be closed on August 22, but the shut down was pushed back so that joint administrators Duff & Phelps and FRP Advisory could sell as much stock as possible to maximise returns for creditors.

The Government’s Insolvency Service is reviewing what is understood to be a highly critical report from Duff & Phelps on the conduct of BHS’ owner Dominic Chappell, which could ultimately lead to him being banned from being a company director.

Three-times bankrupt Chappell bought BHS for £1 in March 2015 from Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia retail empire, which includes Top Shop, Top Man and Miss Selfridge.
