It’s only been 23 days since fitness personality, Emily Skye, gave birth to her daughter, Mia.
However, in her profession, around this point, many other women would already be sharing photos of their flat abs and post-baby bodies – having ‘bounced back’ in record time.
Gold coast fitness star, Emily Skye (pictured), shared a photo of herself 23 days post-partum, where she was wearing her partner’s shorts because none of her own fit
The 33-year-old new mother (pictured with her daughter, Mia) has since been applauded by her 2.2 million followers for being real about her post-baby body
Emily (pictured pregnant) wrote on her photo: ‘I’m down roughly 14 kilograms since I gave birth (I’d gained about 21kg while pregnant)’
Posting on Saturday, Emily wrote: ‘I’m 23 days post-partum and I’m wearing @recdedmond’s [her partner’s] training shorts because none of mine fit. Haha!’.
She continued by saying: ‘I’m down roughly 14 kilograms since I gave birth (I’d gained about 21kg while pregnant). It just shows how much fluid I had!’.
Emily said that her ‘tummy isn’t completely down yet and it’s really squishy, but it’s getting there’:
‘My abs seem to be almost completely back together which I’m so happy about. They were three finger widths apart after I gave birth. The core and pelvic floor work I do everyday is obviously working.’
She said she is starting to do some gentle exercise but won’t be back in the gym for another two and a half weeks; instead she’s focusing on motherhood (pictured pre pregnancy)
‘It’s going to take a lot of hard work to get some sort of strength and fitness back but if I commit myself and I’m consistent I believe I’ll get there,’ Emily (pictured) wrote
The famous trainer says she’s managing to do some ‘really light exercises at home’, and ‘it feels so good to do something slightly active’.
But, she added that she won’t be returning to the gym for another two and a half weeks.
‘It’s going to take a lot of hard work to get some sort of strength and fitness back but if I commit myself and I’m consistent I believe I’ll get there,’ Emily wrote.
The 33-year-old has garnered praise online for being honest about giving birth (pictured after having Mia) – she said she was told she would ‘bounce back’, but she didn’t
Since the 33-year-old shared her message, it has proven popular with other mothers online – who praised her for being ‘real’ and honest about the efforts and time it takes to get back to where you were pre pregnancy.
‘I love that you’re sharing the truth of child bearing: the good, the hard, and the never talked about,’ one person wrote.
‘It’s a beautiful process and the changes to our bodies are from the most glorious act our bodies could ever achieve – growing a human.’
Another added: ‘No celebrities seem to show this side of the after effects of having a baby! I’ve never seen someone so gracefully and generously offer a glimpse into the real experience of giving birth.’
The post has over 100,000 comments from well-wishers and fans.
‘It’s only five days after I gave birth to Mia and I look about six or so months pregnant,’ she wrote at the time (pictured before becoming pregnant)
However, many have said they like her honesty (pictured pregnant) – as many celebrities don’t depict things in such a way
Emily has previously been honest about her pregnancy and how it changed her body.
Right after giving birth, she wrote online: ‘So many people told me I would “bounce right back” after giving birth like a lot of other fit women do. Well that’s definitely not the case for me.
‘It’s only five days after I gave birth to Mia and I look about six or so months pregnant.’
Emily put on 21 kilograms while pregnant, but remains focused on being a mother and raising her one-month-old, Mia.
