THE QUESTION Time audience erupted in hysterics when the panel was asked whether Jeremy Corbyn is credible enough to lead Brexit negotiations.

Corbyn has ‘LOST the plot & would RUIN Brexit negotiations if he becomes PM’, Cable claims

As Labour flounder in the latest election polls, Mr Corbyn has “lost the plot” and is leading the country into a “deep dark swamp”, Vince Cable exclaimed.

Sir Vince, the Liberal Democrat treasury spokesman, said: “The simple answer is no. He and Theresa May have both voted for a hard Brexit which isn’t just leaving the EU but taking us out of the single market and customs union which is fundamental to the manufacturing industry.

Jeremy Corbyn has lost the plot and has lost the loyalty of a lot of his own people

“The fundamental issue is Jeremy Corbyn has lost the plot and has lost the loyalty of a lot of his own people as he is taking us in the same direction as the Ukip inspired Conservative Government.

“We have to wait for what the EU will offer us and it will probably come in a take it or leave it offer. The public have got to be given the choice to decide whether they should accept the offer that is on the table.

“The Government, backed in this case by Jeremy Corbyn, are leading us into a very deep swamp. We have got to have some line of retreat if this goes badly wrong.”

The Labour leader has been lambasted for his supposed apathy regarding Brexit.

Priti Patel, the Secretary of State for International Development, said: “Jeremy Corbyn is not credible as a leader in Brexit negotiations. Can anyone seriously picture him sitting down with presidents, chancellors, prime ministers across Europe to get a good deal? The answer is no.

“We need a strong leader and someone who will get a good deal for our country and that is Theresa May. Labour, when in Government, allowed a policy of uncontrolled immigration.”

Charles Moore, Margaret Thatcher’s biographer, said: “It is very clear that Jeremy Corbyn cannot run the country and the voters can see that. There is such a fantastic difference between being elected by your party and being elected by the country.

“Mr Corbyn is the classic preacher to the converted and he is unable to reach out beyond this and he will lose.”

The latest Ipos Mori poll puts the Tories on 49 per cent while Labour is up eight points to 34 per cent.

The poll of 1,053 adults was taken across the UK between 15 and 17 May and it placed the Tories on the verge of winning a majority of more than 100 in the upcoming General Election.

Jonathan Bartley, the co-leader of the Green Party, added: “Jeremy Corbyn urged Article 50 to be invoked immediately, that was an error of judgement. He has handed Theresa May a blank cheque but not only that, he has driven them to the bank and got them to cash it in over the Brexit negotiations.
