Car smashes into Joondalup Health Campus – five injured

Three people are fighting for life and two others are injured after a car ploughed through the entrance of a major health care facility.

The vehicle slammed into the discharge lounge of Perth‘s Joondalup Health Campus shortly after midday on Thursday.

A witness told the ABC the car travelled through the entrance and 20 metres inside the building. Smoke then billowed from the facility.

A Western Australia Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia five people were hit and three were in a serious condition.

The driver was believed to be woman in her 80s, the spokesperson said.

A hospital spokeswoman said medics were treating the casualties.

‘A car at 12:05pm crashed through our discharge lounge which is where our patients are waiting to be picked up to go home,’ the spokeswoman told Perth Now.

‘There are people injured. The medics from the emergency department are onsite and we are starting our emergency response.

‘We will be putting out a statement as soon as we have details on how many people have been injured.’

The building has been significantly damaged.
