Thomas’s shocked and amused expression was captured on camera as he turned around to find his soon-to-be-wife in a huge orange costume.

The video – which shows Thomas obliviously waiting with his back turned as Elizabeth approached him in costume before he turned to find a T-Rex – has been watched over 2.6million times.

Thomas said he was ‘totally floored’ by the surprise and could not stop laughing.

‘I was totally floored when I turned around and saw her in this. Floored I tell you,’ he wrote on Facebook.

Beth added: ‘It just warms my heart to see that so many people got a giggle out of this too.’

She said the idea was inspired by her mother’s maiden name and her middle name, which is Rex.

‘I thought it would be funny to wear the costume on the day I would go from a Rex/Hundley to a Gardner,’ she told The Huffington Post.

She admitted that she was ‘a little worried’ about how Thomas would react but he was delighted by the surprise.

Costumes have been a consistent theme in their relationship after Elizabeth was wearing a Captain America dress when they first met in a bar five years ago.

John Clark Weddings, who made the video, described Thomas’s reaction as ‘the best first look ever’.

The video shows Thomas standing on a bridge in his suit holding a bouquet of sunflowers waiting for his fiancee to arrive.

Elizabeth is seen being helped over the bridge in a T-Rex costume and stands behind Thomas who is waiting with his back turned.

When he turns around to find Elizabeth waving in the costume he bursts out laughing and Elizabeth comes dancing towards him before they embrace and kiss.

When she asked ‘are you mad that I did this?’ he laughingly said ‘no’.

He helps to unzip her to reveal her wedding dress underneath and they kiss in front of the sunset.

Dinosaur costumes appear to be emerging as a wedding trend for 2017.

Earlier this week Daily Mail Online reported that photographers Greg Basel and Maria Adams shot spoof engagement pictures of two people in T-Rex costumes in Spokane Valley, Washington.
